Delete Your Account

You can delete your ScholarTree account and its data at any time, from inside the app or by writing to us. Deletion is permanent and cannot be undone.

Delete it yourself

If you can still sign in, this takes about a minute:

1. Open ScholarTree on your device, or go to the web version.
2. Sign in as the account holder. For a child's account, sign in as the parent who owns it.
3. Go to Account Settings → Delete Account.
4. Confirm. You may be asked to sign in again first — that is a security check, so that only you can delete your account.

Once you can sign in, the deletion screen is at app.scholartree.app/settings/account.

If you can't sign in

You do not need access to your account, or the app installed, to have your data deleted. Email privacy@scholartree.app from the address on the account, with the subject Account deletion request.

If you can no longer use that email address, write from any address and tell us the account email and anything that helps us confirm the account is yours. We may ask for further confirmation before deleting, because deleting the wrong account is not something we can undo.

We acknowledge requests within 3 business days and complete verified deletions within 30 days.

What gets deleted

Deleting an account removes:

• The sign-in credential itself, so the account no longer exists.
• The profile: name, email, role, age band, settings and preferences.
• All learning content belonging to the account — study materials and notes, session transcripts, quizzes, writing work, goals and assignments.
• Stored files, including voice-session and reading-practice audio recordings and anything uploaded or photographed into the app.
• The tutor's memory of the student in our knowledge graph — the topics, proficiencies and observations that let a session pick up where the last one left off.
• Session feedback and ratings submitted from the account.
• Recommendation and progress caches.
• Usage and credit records associated with the account.
• Any active subscription is cancelled as part of the deletion.

What is kept, and why

A small number of operational records about AI service calls are anonymised rather than deleted: the link to you is removed, and what remains carries no name, email or account identifier. These records exist so we can reconcile what our AI providers billed us, and they are of no use for identifying anyone once detached.

We may also retain records we are required by law to keep, such as transaction records for tax purposes. These are kept only as long as the law requires.

Backups are cycled out on their own schedule. Data already deleted from the live service is not restored from them.

Recordings and the 30-day window

Even without deleting your account, voice-session and reading-practice recordings are automatically deleted after 30 days. If you delete your account, they go immediately, along with everything else listed above.

School and classroom accounts

If a student account was created by a school, the school controls that student's education records and deletion is requested through the school. Contact us at privacy@scholartree.app and we will work with the school to complete it.
